As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen community-based health services under the Link Worker Scheme (LWS), Ferrando Integrated Women Development Centre (FIWDC-LWS), Saitual organized a Health Camp at Hmuncheng Village, Khawzawl District, Mizoram on 29 June 2026. The programme was conducted with the objective of improving access to essential healthcare services, promoting early detection of communicable diseases, and strengthening community awareness on HIV prevention and overall health.
The health camp was conducted in collaboration with the Mobile ICTC, Khawzawl District, ensuring the availability of integrated HIV counselling and testing services alongside general medical consultation. The programme reflects the LWS strategy of converging health services at the community level and enhancing access for rural and hard-to-reach populations.
Medical examinations and consultations were provided by Dr. Lalnunpuii, AYUSH Medical Doctor, Khawzawl, who attended to a total of 74 beneficiaries during the camp. Individuals presenting with common illnesses and other health concerns received appropriate clinical assessment, treatment advice, and counselling. Patients requiring further medical evaluation or specialized care were advised to seek follow-up services at the nearest health facility.
In addition to general health services, the Mobile ICTC team facilitated voluntary HIV and syphilis screening. A total of 46 blood samples were collected and tested for HIV and Syphilis after obtaining informed consent from the beneficiaries. Pre-test and post-test counselling were provided in accordance with national guidelines, ensuring confidentiality, informed decision-making, and appropriate linkage to care whenever necessary.
The health camp served as an important platform for increasing community awareness on preventive healthcare, encouraging regular health check-ups, reducing stigma associated with HIV testing, and promoting early diagnosis and treatment. Community members appreciated the availability of multiple health services within their locality, which reduced the need to travel long distances for basic healthcare.
The successful collaboration between FIWDC-LWS, Saitual, the Mobile ICTC, Khawzawl District, and the attending medical officer demonstrated the importance of coordinated community outreach in improving health outcomes in rural areas.
