BRIEF HISTORY

Ferrando Integrated Women Development Center - Peace Home was started in the year 2005, to help women and young girls live more dignified and purposeful lives. It is run by the Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians, a rare initiative of the sisters in the North East. The center provides services to recovering drug users, alcoholics, sex workers, those infected with HIV and other vulnerable women and children and persons with disabilities in the society.

VISION

We envision a society where women and children live the fullness of life with dignity and justice (as inspired by the Gospel message, St. John 10.10 “That they may have life, life in abundance”).

MISSION

To uplift marginalized and disadvantaged women and children and ensure their rights to a life of dignity, respect and fulfillment as destined by God and guaranteed to them by the Indian Constitution, National and International laws and covenants.

TARGET PUPULATION:

  1. Recovering drug users, alcoholics, sex workers, HIV infected and affected.
  2. Orphan children
  3. People at risk of contracting HIV/AIDS/TB/STI etc..
  4. Women and children in Domestic Work
  5. Persons with disabilities
  6. Dropout girls from rural areas and migrant workers
  7. Marginalized farmers, especially women.

Our Strategies

  • To provide institutional based services for women in difficult circumstances including those in sex work, alcoholics, HIV infected, drug addicts and victims of domestic and sexual violence.
  • Institutional based services for children in need of care and protection including children of drug users, sex workers, alcoholics and children infected with and affected by HIV, victims of family and sexual violence and children at risk of abuse and exploitation.
  • Advocacy for empowering domestic workers - children and adults to prevent exploitation and to promote the dignity of their labour.
  • Initiate community based rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities and their families and educational services for children with hearing impairment.
  • Initiate skills development through vocational training for economic empowerment of young girls and women.
  • In-house capacity building as well as for community based organizations to increase knowledge and keep up to date with new developments
  • Documentation and action research in order to share experiences and learnings.
  • Build, strengthen and maintain networking and partnership with government, non-government and community based organizations.

Our Objectives

  • To build, construct, acquire, establish, maintain, provide, manage and run De-addiction cum rehabilitation centre specifically for women, home for children of victims of substance abusers, alcoholics, commercial sex workers and HIV/AIDS, vocational training cum production centre. To organize and undertake training in village industries for the welfare of the members of the society.
  • To educate, train and assist financially or otherwise, in education and training of social workers and other in arts, science, culture, religion, spiritual, educational, economic, social and other fields, to assist the needy especially women, drug dependent, alcoholics, commercial sex workers, victims of HIV/AIDS and their children in self employment scheme, to make people conscious and concerned about social justice, self reliance and co-operation, to foster, promote and provide training in leadership, effective communication, organization, management, public relations and other fields.
  • To propagate, contribute, improve, assist or aid in the promotion of general welfare and physical, mental, material, religious, spiritual, moral and cultural, advancement of people at large, to purchase, construct, obtain on lease or hire or otherwise acquire and own the places of trainings and other assets and proprieties as may be necessary in fulfilment of above objectives or otherwise.
  • To publish books, journals, posters for betterment of the youngsters in connection with attainment of the society.
  • To work as non political organization.
  • To arrange meetings, seminars, workshops, conferences, lectures, camps and programs relating to one or more of its objects and to arrange and organize tours, excursions and visits in fulfilment thereof.
  • To establish, build, construct, maintain educational institution, vocational training centre, hostels for the girls, horticulture and charitable dispensaries etc.
  • To establish offices, agencies and representations in India or outside, to engage, employ and hire personnel, consultants, advisers, staffs, servants and others as may be required for the attainment of the objects of the Society and to pay them salaries, wages, gratuities, welfare thereof and to terminate, dismiss or suspend such personnel.
  • To establish and maintain reserves and other funds of such money as the Governing Board may think fit for the promotion of the activities of or for any
  • To initiate and support legal action on its own behalf or on behalf of the persons, organizations, societies and institutions connected with the Society in any manner, jointly or severally, in any court, whether on authorization by the above or on its own initiative on all matters affecting the interest of the Society or the cause for which it is established.
  • To do or cause to be done all such lawful acts and things as are or may be necessary incidental or conducive to the attainment and pursuit of and in accordance with the spirit and principles of any all the objects of the Society.
  • To raise, borrow and secure the payment of moneys by whatsoever means including by issue of bonds, debentures, bills, or other securities to purchase, reduce or pay for such securities, to receive and utilize gifts, grants, donations, subscriptions, foundations in cash or in the form of movable property of all descriptions, to invest the corpus, funds or surplus money in such manner and in such assets, properties, securities, shares, deposits or investments as may be determined from time to time and to sell and vary all or any of the above and execute all assignments, transfers receipts and documents as may be necessary.
